IRAN has issued a chilling “red line” warning to the United Nations, declaring that any American military strike will turn every US base and asset in the Middle East into a “legitimate target” for retaliation.
In a high-stakes letter to the UN Security Council, Tehran warned that the region is on the verge of a “spiral” of violence.
The Islamic Republic’s mission insisted that Washington would bear “full responsibility” for any “unpredictable and uncontrolled consequences” should hostilities break out.
The ultimatum comes as President Donald Trump reportedly weighs “limited strike” options to pressure the regime into a new nuclear deal.
Despite the drums of war, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi today dismissed claims that Tehran is ready to fold on its atomic ambitions.
Speaking from Geneva, Araghchi confirmed that Iran has not offered to suspend its nuclear activities.
In a direct challenge to White House rhetoric, he stated:
“We have NOT offered any suspension, and the US side has NOT asked for zero enrichment.
Araghchi maintained that current discussions are focused solely on ensuring the program remains “peaceful” while keeping the technology firmly in Iranian hands.
The current crisis follows a period of extreme volatility.
In June 2025, Israel launched strikes against Iranian nuclear facilities, leading to a direct exchange of missiles and drones.
Tensions reached a fever pitch this week after President Trump suggested the US might utilize British military bases—including RAF Fairford and the Indian Ocean outpost of Diego Garcia—to support operations if a deal isn’t reached within days.
With over 40,000 US troops currently stationed across the Gulf, the threat to “all assets” puts British allies and regional partners directly in the line of fire.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres has been urged to intervene “before it is too late,” but with both sides digging in, the path to peace has never looked narrower.
