Sales for leading films at the box office wasn’t too impressive compared to what has been the trend in the last three weeks but good enough for distributors to smile to the banks.
Maleficent which has been in the box office in the last five weeks managed to hang on to the league of top five films when sales crashed to $13.012 million from 3,450 cinema outfits where it was exhibited in the US. Just ahead in the 4th position is Jersey Boys, a new film just hitting the box office. Put together by Werner Brothers, the film grossed $13.515 million from 2, 905 viewing centres in the US to make it to number 4 in box office sales.
How to Train your Dragon 2 which was number 2 last week dropped to number 3 when cumulative sales fell to $25.3 million after touring 4,268 viewing centres in the US. 22 Jump Street which was number 1 last week was pushed to the second position when sales dropped to $29 million in box office sales.
But the most patronized movie at the box office during the week was Think Like a Man Too, which is new at the box office. Put together by Screen Gems, the movie made $30 million after passing through 2,225 cinemas in the US to emerge as the most patronized movie at the box office. Think Like a Man Too is a small budget film put together with the sum of $24 million but was able to return $30 million to Screen Gems the first week it was released at the box office.
