PORT HARCOURT, Nigeria – Niger Delta Leaders on today described the performance of the Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi as satisfactory.

“The magnitude of his achievement in the development of Nigeria’s rail infrastructure cannot be denied by even his most unsympathetic critic. His performance has been fantastic” the leaders said.

They also applauded the former Rivers State governor for his energy and output. “His works bear the hallmark of the true development of Nigeria. Rotimi Amaechi must be encouraged to complete the good work he has started”

Meeting under the aegis of the Niger Delta People’s Movement (NDPM) in Port Harcourt, the leaders hailed Amaechi for his commitment to the country’s greatness, particularly a safe and efficient transport system in Nigeria.

Citing the Lagos-Ibadan standard gauge rail project, the narrow gauge railway from Port Harcourt to Maiduguri and the proposed universities of transportation in Nigeria, the leaders lauded Amaechi for stimulating positive reforms in the transportation sector of the country. They described the transport minister as a leader with character, courage and conviction.

“The Ministry of Transportation is one of great physical and technical achievement. The government is not only focusing on making the rail lines in Nigeria work, but also building capacity for Nigerians”.

In a statement issued after the meeting by NDPM leader, Mrs. Ibifuro Tatua, the leaders condemned the Rivers State Governor, Barrister Nyesom Wike for making democracy an evil thing in Nigeria.

Specifically, they criticized the governor for dishing out his vulgar views about the APC, performance of the ruling party and the Nigeria Police Force, the party’s recent victory at the Court of Appeal and 2019 governorship election.

The leaders who were appalled at wike’s Sunday comments admitted that the Rivers State governor can be naïve and contradictory as well as confused.

“Nyesom Wike remains hostile to quality leadership. His comments are displeasing to God and unprofitable to the Niger Delta people”. Filled with fury, the leaders urged Nigerians not to be misled by his personal feelings.

They commended the All Progressives Congress for bringing exceptional leadership to governance in Nigeria, safeguarding the interests of Nigerians and developing political institutions.

“There is no alternative to APC. It is committed to the entrenchment of a fully transparent and accountable public revenue management system in Nigeria. The ruling party is preventing oil theft and other criminal practices that are detrimental to Nigeria’s economy, addressing poverty and combating illiteracy, hunger and diseases. Nigeria is in safe hands”
