LAGOS, Nigeria – The motorcycle transport business better known as Okada is evolving, following the high level of inflation in the country, compounded by continuous rise in the price of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS otherwise known as petrol.
In the past pictures have emerged in the social media of some Okada riders carrying as much five passengers including the driver.
But in most cases, some of these many passengers turns out to be children going to school, prompting the Lagos State Government to issue directives on the total number of passengers an Okada rider is expected to convey.
But recently, there has been an emergence of a reconstructed Okada capable of carrying at least seven adult passengers including the driver.
Some are calling it a product of ingenuity in the quest to earn additional income to survive the economic hardship.
