The Blind Can See Poverty in Badagry, Alimosho – Segun Adewale

February 11, 2015 – Senatorial Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos West, Mr. Segun Adewale alias Aero has said that the All Progressive Congress (APC) led government in the state has tilted development in favour of Victoria Island and Ikoyi to the neglect of people in Alimosho, Isolo, Ifako Ijaye and Badagry.

Adewale who was speaking on Wazobia FM said poverty stairs people in the face in these areas, stressing that there are no roads, no water in the area adding that it is even worst in Badagry where he alleged that even the blind could see poverty.

He said the people following him are ordinary people who are in need of development in the area after so many years of neglect.

“The people following me are not politicians; they are saying why can’t you bring development to Alimosho, Mushin, Ifako Ijaye, Isolo and Badagry. Badagry is worst. In Badagry you can see poverty, touch poverty, even the blind can see poverty, there is no development there”, he said.

He said it is impossible for the APC candidate, Mr. Solomon Olamilekan alias Yayi to win. According to him, Yayi has done nothing in the area he is seeking to represent unlike him who has done roads, fixed boreholes, provided transformer for a community and even built a bridge in Abule Egba area to link communities.

He said he defeated Solomon Olamilekan in the race to House of Representatives by 150,000 votes in 2007 and alleged that the events were manipulated at appeal court forcing the sitting Judge to adjourn the case indefinitely.

“I won the election in 2011 by 150,000 votes INEC said the calculator they used did mistake, he alleged. On allegation that he moves around with thugs, he said that it was not his own making, stressing that that was as a result of the area he lives and that those people are those he could relate with.

He said that growing up, his orientation was that money can only be made by owning garages and other things but that his orientation changed when he gained admission into the university to study geography.

He said he joined the race to challenge the APC candidate whom he said has no antecedent of development in the area. He said his wife almost abandoned him as a result of his philanthropic gestures.
