KADUNA, Nigeria – Teachers in Kaduna State have notified Commissioner of Police in the state of their intention to embark on two day protest to  press for sack of State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) chairman over delayed salary and illegal deductions not reflected in pay slips.

In a statement, the aggrieved SUBEB teachers said the protest has become necessary due to persistent delay of salary and unlawful deductions of N19,970.35 kobo from primary school teachers’ salary for over a  year  without reflecting same on pay slips.

“This is a violation of Pay Role Legislation and Employment Right Act.  Also contravention of Section 1(1) b of the  Labour Act”, and chapter 3 of  the Civil Service Rule, the teachers said.

The teachers said they have made several complains to stakeholders to stop delay and unlawful deductions but to no avail hence the need to embark on the peaceful protest.

“We decided to embark on a two-day  peaceful protest to enforce the constitutional removal of SUBEB chairman under whose knowledge  these criminal acts are taking place.

They also used the opportunity to ask for urgent release of March 2022 salary despite the Joint Account Allocation Committee(JAAC) approval of  the salary payment a long time.

“The protest has been scheduled to take place on Tuesday 26 and Wednesday 27th of April 2022. Consequently, we apply that you deploy your men to accompany us so as to forestall any attempt at hijacking  the exercise by hoodlums. On our part,  we shall be civil in our conduct and comply with all existing laws”, the teachers said.,
