ABUJA, Nigeria – The Supreme Court of Nigeria has reconstituted membership of the panel to hear the application challenging the apex court ruling on primaries held by the All Progressive Congress(APC) in Zamfara State.

The new panel members are the CJN Tanko Muhammad, Justices Olukayode Ariwoola, Adamu Galinje, Inyang Okoro, and Uwani Abba-Aji.

The five-member panel  of the Supreme Court presided over by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Tanko Muhammad, had ruled unanimously that the APC failed to conduct primaries in accordance with the rules of the party in Zamfara State, thus voiding APC votes in the governorship election.

In the lead judgement delivered  by Justice Paul Adamu Galinji,  the Supreme Court held that all votes cast for the APC were “wasted votes” and declared that the political party with the second-highest votes in the elections and the required spread, be declared winner.

Consequently, the PDP was declared winner of the  governorship election.

Earlier,  counsel to the APC, Robert Clarke (SAN), had informed the court  that APC is seeking to review the consequential orders made by the court over the conduct of the primary in Zamfara State, which resulted in their votes being voided.
