LAGOS, Nigeria – Opeyemi Sowore, the wife of convener, #revolutionnow, Omoyele Sowore has said that after watching the event in Nigeria, the life of her husband now depends on global outcry, advocacy and intervention.

Opeyemi Sowore spoke after watching her helpless husband knocked to the floor, assaulted by operatives of the DSS in a bid to re-arrest him inside the courtroom, an unprecedented feat in the history of Nigeria.

As she puts it, the President Muhammadu Buhari’s government has shown Nigerians repeatedly about their irrational conduct and extreme inability to follow the rule of law.

“We don’t have the luxury of time, it’s urgent that we hold the government accountable. We cannot go at this alone, Sowore’s life depends on a global outcry, your advocacy and intervention”, the wife begged the international community.

She said that in just 24 hours, the world witnessed Nigeria’s democracy disintegrate further with a gross misuse of power and outrageous display of lawlessness.

She said she is unable to tell her children that their father has been arrested by the DSS after spending 126 days in detention adding that one of the children, aged 10 wished to see his father by his side during Christmas which is just few days away.

“Today was a turning point in Nigeria’s history, unlike anything, its democracy has been seen. In just 24 hours, the world witnessed Nigeria’s democracy disintegrate further with a gross misuse of power and outrageous display of lawlessness.

“After the judge adjourned the case until February 11 and she affirmed my husband’s freedom, chaos ensued,. Armed DSS operatives, strangled and forcefull harmed Yele in attempt to re-arrest him. The judge fled the courtroom for her own safety. with brutal force, the DSS operatives were successful in taking my husband again.

“This government has shown us repeatedly, thier irational conduct and extreme inability to follow the rule of law. We don’t have the luxury of time, it’s urgent that we hold the government accountable. We cannot go at this alone, Sowore’s life depends on a global outcry, your advocacy and intervention.
