LOKOJA, Kogi, Nigeria – The Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Elder Simon Achuba has been impeached by the Kogi State House of Assembly. Simon Achuba was impeached few hours after receiving a report of the judicial panel of enquiry set up by Justice Nasir Ajanah, Chief Judge of Kogi State.
House Leader, Hassan Bello Abdulahi was quoted as saying that Simon Achuba was impeached after consideration of the report of the John Bayeshea-led committee, adding that the lawmakers and that they unanimously agreed to impeach Achuba.
Speaker of the House, Mathew Kolawole had earlier today Friday received the report following which the House went into a closed-door session
Kolawole explained that the task of ensuring good governance required collective efforts and thanked members of the house for the timely presentation of the report.
Also speaking, Deputy Speaker of the House, Ahmed Mohammad said the exercise followed due process and thanked everyone for being responsive to the development of Kogi.
The committee inaugurated August 26 with a 90-day duration within which to complete the assignment and submit its report.
