LAGOS, Nigeria – Senator Godswill Akpabio has resigned as Senate Minority Leader. The Senator who was elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) did not give any reason for his resignation.

He only thanked his party, the PDP, and his colleagues in the PDP for giving him the opportunity to serve in that capacity in the last three years.

“This is to inform you of my resignation as Senate Minority Leader with effect from August 4, 2018”, he said.

Although it is not clear why he has resigned, their feelers that the resignation is to prepare away for his formal defection to the rulling All Progressive Congress(APC). Akpabio at the weekend visited President Muhammadu Buhari who is on 10-day holiday in London.

Akpabio will likely announce his defection once the senate resumes. See his resignation letter below.
