ABUJA, Nigeria – Mrs. Aishah Ahmad and Mr. Edward Lametek Adamu were today screened by the Senate for reappointment as Deputy Governors of Central Bank of Nigeria.

The successful screening paved the way for President Muhammadu Buhari to reappoint the two as Deputy Governors of CBN.  They were screened following their nomination for reappointment by President Muhammadu Buhari.

“The Senate committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions screened Mrs. Aishah Ahmad and Mr. Edward Lametek Adamu, on Friday, December 9, 2022, following their nomination for reappointment as deputy governors of the CBN by President Muhammadu Buhari”, the Central Bank of Nigeria has said.

Mrs. Aishah Ahmad  has been serving as Deputy Governor of CBN in charge of Financial System Stability, while Edward Lametek Adamu is Deputy Governor in charge of Corporate Services . Aishah Ahmad was appointed Deputy Governor at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on the 23rd March, 2018.

As Deputy Governor in charge of Financial System Stability, she is responsible for leading the effort to promote a sound financial system in Nigeria; one of the principal objects of the Bank as specified within the CBN Act. In this role, Aishah is a member of the Governing Board and Committee of Governors at the CBN and Chairman, Financial Institutions Training Centre (FITC) – a not for profit organization offering training, consulting and research services for the financial services sector.

Mr. Edward Lametek Adamu was appointed Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria on 23rd March, 2018.

He graduated from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1981 where he obtained a Bachelor of Science (Bsc.) Honours degree in Quantity Surveying with Second Class Upper Division.

He also obtained Post-graduate certifications in Project & Programme Management, Strategy Management, Credit Administration, Knowledge Management and Human Resource Management. He is a fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors and the Institute of Credit Administration.
