STATE OF EMERGENCY EXTRNDED BY 3 MONTHS

France, July 15, 2016 – Scores of people have been killed and several others injured on Thursday when a suspected terrorist drove a large truck into a crowd watching Bastille Day fireworks display in the French city of Nice.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack but many believe that the attack has the trademark of ISIS.

French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said early Friday morning that at least 84 people lost their lives in the attack.

French President Francois Hollande said that children were among the dead, and that his country was “under the threat of Islamic terrorism. We have to demonstrate absolute vigilance and show determination that is unfailing,” he said.

Hollande said he would extend France’s state of emergency by another three months, until Oct. 26. French Interior Ministry spokesman Pierre-Henry Brandet said the truck driver was killed by police.

The man was said to have fired his gun several times into the massive crowd before he was killed.
The assailant, now dead is reported to be a 31-year-old Nice resident of Tunisian origin.
