LONDON, UK – A young London man who claimed he made a “pact with the devil” to become his “minion” has been caged after counter-terror cops busted him with guides on how to commit chilling ‘lone wolf’ attacks.
Declan George-Candiani (26) of Streatham was today slapped with a 23-month prison sentence at the Old Bailey after being convicted of collecting terrorist materials.
The twisted student was nicked by eagle-eyed Counter Terrorism officers at Stansted Airport way back in August 2024.
A quick look at his phone revealed a horrifying hoard of extremist files, leading to a search of his home where an iPad was seized, packed with documents detailing how to carry out terror attacks.
Pact with the Dark Side
But the case took a bizarre twist when George-Candiani spilled the beans to police, claiming his descent into darkness began with an “unhealthy obsession” with an extreme-right wing group peddling “traditional Satanism.”
He told shocked detectives he had a “possessed mindset” and had made a terrifying “pact with the devil” to become a low-level servant – a “minion” – for the dark lord.
He even tried to wiggle out of it by claiming the vile ideology had “overpowered” him in a way he “couldn’t control.”
However, the prosecution told the court that George-Candiani was a willing participant, intentionally downloading the sick material linked to extreme right-wing terror groups.
Commander Dominic Murphy, head of Counter Terrorism Policing London, hailed the bust as proof of the crucial work done at our borders.
He said: “This is another example of why ‘schedule 7’ powers at our ports and borders are so important in helping us to identify potential terrorist activity.”
”In this case, analysis of digital devices revealed downloads of horrific material promoted by extreme right-wing terrorist groups, as well as extremely dangerous material about carrying out attacks and other acts of extreme violence.”
George-Candiani was convicted on two counts of collecting material useful to a terrorist and will also serve an extra year on licence and must notify authorities of his details for 10 years.
