A RUSSIAN town has been rocked by horror after a teenage gunman opened fire inside a technical college.
The 17-year-old student reportedly stormed the building in the Black Sea resort of Anapa, sparking a desperate scramble for cover as bullets flew through the hallways.
One person has been confirmed dead in the carnage, while two others were rushed to a local hospital with gunshot wounds. Their conditions are currently unknown.
Panic erupted at the vocational school as students realized the “pops” echoing through the corridors weren’t a drill.
Armed police swarmed the scene within minutes, locking down the campus and cornering the shooter before more lives were lost. Local authorities confirmed the suspect was detained at the scene and is now in custody.
A local police spokesperson said: “The suspect is a 17-year-old student of the college. He has been apprehended and the weapon has been seized. Investigations into the motive are ongoing.”
While Russia has historically had strict gun control laws, the country has been shaken by a string of high-profile school shootings in recent years.
September 2022: A gunman killed 17 people, including 11 children, at a school in Izhevsk.
May 2021: A former student opened fire at a school in Kazan, leaving nine dead.
October 2018: A “Kerch Polytechnic” massacre saw 20 people killed by a 18-year-old student, an event often cited as Russia’s “Columbine.”
This latest atrocity in Anapa—usually a quiet holiday destination—will likely reignite the fierce debate over campus security and youth mental health across the Federation.
