December 9, 2015 – There was mass protest this morning in Ikorodu, a suburb of Lagos when policemen chased a little girl hawking in traffic along Ikorodu road into a moving vehicle, leading to her untimely death.

The young girl according to eye witness was running away when she sighted a team of policemen and was subsequently knocked down by a vehicle.

We gathered that the little girl died on the spot. The incident enraged passersby who embarked on mass protest condemning activities of policemen , who escaped from the scene when they discovered that their target had been knocked down.

The mass protest worsened the perennial traffic in the area leaving many in traffic for several hours.
By the time of filling this report, sympathizers at the scene were making frantic effort to remove the corpse for deposition at Ikorodu General Hospital morgue.

Some who witnessed the incident condemned activities of the policemen and called for an end to forceful arrests of violators of laws banning street trading in the metropolis.

“Is this the work that policemen should be doing? They have abandoned their work of going after criminals and they are now pursuing innocent people who are selling to earn a living. This is just too bad”, an eye witness said.
