PORT HARCOURT, Nigeria – Operatives of the Anti Kidnap Squad, Anambra State Police Command have smashed a kidnap gang in Nnewi Ichi, Nnewi North where they arrested one of the kingpins and rescued one kidnap victim.
The spokesman of the command ,DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, who confirmed the incident said the operatives were on patrol with vigilante men on Wednesday when information about the kidnappers’ hideout reached them and they stormed the place.

He also said that a kidnapped victim found in the kidnappers hideout was rescued and conveyed to a hospital at Nnewi for treatment, noting that one of the suspected kidnappers was arrested.
He said the operatives recovered One Pump Action Gun and two locally fabricated hand grenades at the hideout.
Ikenga said that the State Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, has commended Police Operatives and the local Vigilante on this collaboration.
According to him, they admitted that the collaboration has been effective against criminal elements. He said the CP had asked them to sustain the onslaught until crime is reduced to the barest minimum and people can move around in safety.
