POLICE ARRESTS 28 CRIMINALS, RECOVERS 25 RIFLES, AMMUNITION IN RIVERS

PORT HARCOURT, Nigeria – Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Zaki Ahmed, said operatives from different units in the  command have arrested 28 suspected criminals for various crimes in different parts of the state in the past four weeks. He told Journalists, at a news conference, at the command’s headquarters in Port Harcourt, that he has deployed all resources available in fighting crime and reducing criminality in the state.




“We deployed all the resources at our disposal to tackle the menace of cultism which has been our major challenge and I can say that we have won the war but we will not rest on our oars until criminality in the state is brought to a tolorable level.”

Ahmed stated that operatives of the anti-kidnapping unit have in recent times raided several kidnappers’ hideouts and apprehended some those operations.

“Following a credible intelligence, operatives of the Anti-kidnapping Unit stormed a kidnappers den at Ukpaliede community in Ahoada where Justice Chidi and Ngozi Yellow were arrested. On interrogation, they confessed to belong to Iceland cult group and that they murdered one Moses Walter, a retired Warrant Officer of the Nigeria Army and buried him in a shallow grave.” Ahmed further stated that his men intercepted and rescued some kidnap victims while arresting the culprits.

“Men of the special Anti-kidnapping Unit intercepted a red Camry car with registration number BGM 739AA with four occupants including a lady.
On interrogation it was discovered that the lady, Comfort Chidiebere, was actually kidnapped and was being ferried to their camp but the intervention of the police saved her.”

The Commissioner of Police thanked members of the public and promised not to relent in the fight against all forms of criminality in the state.
He stressed: “Let me express my profound appreciation to members of the public for their faith in us. I promise not to let you down and will do my utmost best to sustain the aggressive onslaught against the common enemies of the command.”
