ABUJA, Nigeria- The Supreme Court of Nigeria today discharged and acquitted Senator Peter Nwaoboshi of all charges brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

In a lead decision, read by Justice Emmanuel Agim, the court ordered the release of the Delta State senator from the Nigerian Correctional Facility in Ikoyi, Lagos.

The apex court also acquitted two companies charged along with him by the EFCC, Golden Touch Construction Project Ltd and Suiming Electrical LTD.

In a split decision of four to one, the court set aside judgement of Court of Appeal which upturned decision of the Federal High Court that earlier discharged and acquitted the senator.

The court was of the view that Sen. Peter Nwaoboshi and his companies were accused of committing crimes unknown to the laws of the land by the EFCC.
