JEDDAH – The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has condemned in the strongest terms the brutal Israeli bombing of a UNRWA school housing displaced Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, which led to the death of more than 40  Palestinian citizens and the wounding of large numbers of civilians, most of them women and children.

In a statement, the OIC said it views the development as a continuation of the ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people, directly violating international humanitarian law, the Geneva Convention, relevant United Nations resolutions, and International Court of Justice orders.

The OIC has also expressed support for the United Nations Secretary-General’s decision to include Israel on the list of violators of children’s rights in armed conflicts, also known as the “List of Shame.”

“This move is seen as a significant step in upholding international law and addressing the culture of impunity surrounding Israeli war crimes, with a focus on ensuring justice for Palestinian victims”, the statement added.

The OIC urged the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to fulfil its obligations and address the ongoing Israeli military aggression against the Palestinian people.

It emphasized the necessity of taking decisive actions to hold accountable those responsible for war crimes and genocide against the Palestinian people, thus ensuring the realization of global justice.
