SAGAMU, Ogun, Nigeria – The Ogun State Police Command has arrested about 30 young men for rioting and setting alight two commercial banks in the Shagamu, Ogun State.

Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Frank Mba said about two men were arrested for rioting and torching the banks,  would be charged for arson and related offences.

The riot according to eye witnesses broke out early Monday morning in front of the banks where many had queued up to make withdrawals from Automated Teller Machines, ATMS in front of the banks but resorted to violence due to their inability to  cash money from the ATMs.

Earlier, the police command issued a statement, waring  persons wanting to exploit the scarce cash situation to cause breach of the peace.

He therefore warned that the Police, will not fold its arms and allow persons with criminal intentions, to hide under any guise whatsoever, to unleash mayhem on residents, private and public property, and critical national infrastructure, including banks and offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
