WARRI, Delta – There is apprehension in Warri following some misunderstanding between the Urhobos and Itsekiris in Warri South Local Government, which is threatening peaceful coexistence of the two tribes who have coexisted for decades as inlaws.

Meanwhile, the Delta State governor, Sheriff Oborevwori has appealed for calm over reports of the brewing crisis in the Local Government.

In a statement, Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Festus Ahon, said the Governor has urged residents and stakeholders to shun actions capable of disrupting peace, stressing that stability is vital to unlocking Warri’s economic potential and sustaining development.

He called on community leaders, youth groups, and opinion moulders to promote unity and peaceful coexistence, assuring that his administration remains committed to inclusive governance and equitable development across Delta State.
