Anakwenze has been president of IWA since formation, h’s not a democrat – Ohaneze Ndigbo

ONITSHA, Anambra – Chairman of Igbo World Assembly( IWA), Dr. Nwachukwu Anakwenze has stated that the process that threw up Prof George Obiozor as President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo is fraudulent and illegitimate .
Igbo World Assembly remains the umbrella organization of Igbo in the Diaspora and it is the sole representative of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in the Diaspora and equally the umbrella federation of the entire Igbo organizations in the Diaspora
Anakwenze who spoke with our correspondent in his Abanga country home , Njikoka Local government area of Anambra State said that no reasonable Igboman should be proud to support the George Obiozor-le d Ohaneze , given the fraudulent manner he emerged as the president.
“George Obiozor election was fraudulent and cannot be seen as an election to produce president general for great Igbo nation. It was not free and fair and we cannot be doing the wrong things and claim it can be right .
“People cannot take us serious if we could be happy with a fraudulent election that produce Obiozor as the Ohaneze Ndigbo President General. Other people will not see us as serious people when we are doing this to ourselves .
He did not win through free and fair election. Many people were sidelined for him to emerge as the president general of Ohaneze Ndigbo, which is unacceptable.
As chairman of Igbo World Assembly, we do not recognise Obiozor as president general of Ohaneze Ndigbo. I hope also other reasonable igbo organisations and individuals should not recognise him as the president of Ohaneze Ndigbo ” he said .
According to him, Ohaneze Ndigbo deserved free and fair process in selecting who leads them. Anakwenze said an average Igboman would want a situation where everybody is given free hands to contest and whosoever emerges should lead
” You cannot expect other people to be fair to you when you are not fair to yourselves. The election did not follow due process and cannot be recognised. It is illegitimate, ” he said. He also stated the IWA does not support any faction of Ohaneze.
Reacting ,the Vice President of Ohaneze Ndigbo , Chief Damian Okeke -Ogene said that Dr. Nwachukwu Anakwenze is not competent to query the out outcome of Owerri election that produced Prof George Obiozor as the president general of Ohaneze .
He said the election that produced Obiozor led administration had in attendance the five south east governors ,ministers of south east extraction and traditional rulers from the zone. He asked, ‘how does Anakwenze described fair and free election, with all these persons in attendance and they said it met the electoral guide lines’ .
“Please don’t mind Dr. Nwachukwu Anakwenze . This has been his trade mark . He has been the chairman of IWA since formation and has not allowed election in the organisation and he is talking about democracy
“How does not believe in democracy and he cannot talk about it when he is not a democrat .Our election was free, fair and transparent and nobody challenged it ” he said. Okeke – Ogene said that Anakwenze cannot be in USA and decide who becomes president general of Ohaneze in Nigeria .
