Says NATO on brink of COLLAPSE
BY OUR FOREIGN STAFF WRITER
RUSSIA’S Foreign Minister has launched a bizarre verbal attack on the West—claiming NATO is “falling apart” and questioning the rational for Denmark claiming ownership of Greenland.
According to him, Greenland is a colonial legacy that belongs to neither Denmark nor Norway.
Sergei Lavrov, Vladimir Putin’s loyal henchman, sparked fury yesterday by suggesting the world’s most powerful military alliance is being “put to the test” to see what it is “really worth.”
In a series of unhinged claims, the Kremlin’s top diplomat suggested that NATO is so riddled with infighting that some members are even plotting to ATTACK each other.
‘Colonial Legacy’
Lavrov then turned his sights on the icy wilderness of Greenland, branding Denmark’s control of the territory a “legacy of colonialism.”
In a move straight out of the Soviet playbook, he claimed the island was “never a natural part” of Denmark or Norway.
While he insisted Moscow has “no interest in interfering,” the comments have sparked fears that the Arctic could be Putin’s next target for “liberation.”
The Russian veteran went on to claim that secret talks are happening within NATO about shutting the whole alliance down.
He alleged: “There are discussions ongoing within NATO whether it’s time to shut it down because one NATO member intends to attack another.”
Experts dismissed the claims as “pure fantasy” designed to distract from Russia’s failing war in Ukraine.
The Arctic Power Struggle: Russia has been rapidly increasing its military footprint in the Arctic, reopening Cold War-era bases.
Greenland is strategically vital because it sits in the “GIUK gap” (Greenland, Iceland, and the United Kingdom), which is the gateway for the Russian Northern Fleet to reach the Atlantic.
While Lavrov didn’t name names, he is likely trying to exploit friction between Turkey and Greece, or the ongoing debates regarding Hungary’s stance on Ukraine.
These are “fault lines” Russia consistently tries to widen.
Greenland’s Status: Greenland is an autonomous territory of the Kingdom of Denmark.
While it has its own government, Copenhagen handles its foreign and security policy.
It is also home to the US Space Force’s Thule Air Base (Pituffik Space Base), a critical part of the West’s nuclear early-warning system.
