ONITSHA, Anambra, Nigeria – Governor of Anambra State Chief Willie Obiano was visibly absent at the ceremony to officially commission the newly established Zone 13 of the Nigeria Police, Ukpo in Dunukofia local council area of the state on Wednesday.
The governor did not attend neither did he send any representative during the ceremony. However, there was feelers that Obiano and Prince Arthur Eze disagreed on choice of location for the zonal headquarters.
Meanwhile, the Oil mogul, Prince Arthur Eze has attributed the inability of Igbo people to clinch the presidency to Igbo themselves and not the North or South West.
However, doubts as to where the zonal headquarters would be sited ended when the Inspector -General of Police Muhammed Adamu represented by Deputy Inspector-General of Police Mr. Celestine Okoye performed the opening ceremony at Ukpo.
Eze, who also spoke on during the ceremony at Ukpo in Dunukofia local government area of Anambra state, said that Igbo people were never united in pursuing the collective interest of the South East Zone.
“Igbo people are enemies to themselves, not the north or any other people. When I was making effort for the actualisation of Zone 13 headquarters in Anambra, I did not get the needed cooperation from Igbo stakeholders. Many thought I was doing it for my selfish interest. What do I need it for, if not for collective interest?
“The same thing is applicable to Igbo quest for presidency. Some people are agitating for 2023 presidency; but when the time comes, some stakeholders will sing discordant tunes; some of us will be begging for vice presidential slots. We must be united as Igbo people, if we must take our pride of place in this bigger entity called Nigeria,” he posited.
Earlier, the Inspector General of Policeman, IGP Muhammad Adamu, represented by DIG Celestine Chibeze Okoye, congratulated Anambra, Enugu and Ebonyi states for actualising the dream of having a separate zonal headquarters; saying that the new zone was for the overall benefit of the people of the affected states.
