[wysija_form id=”1″]March 18, 2015 – Former Minister of Defence, Senator Musliu Obanikoro was today sworn in as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
He was however posted to Foreign Affairs as Minister of State Foreign Affairs (II). Also sworn in is Nicholas Ada who will now be Minister of State, Foreign Affairs (I).
Mrs. Patricia Akwashiki (Nasarawa) was sworn in as Minister of Information, Augustine Akobundu (Abia State) is now the Minister of State, Defence.
Also sworn in is Alhajia Hauwa’u Bappa, Minister of State Niger Delta Affairs; Kenneth Kobani (Rivers) Minister of State Industry, Trade and Investment; Joel Ikenya (Taraba), Minister of Labour.
Two Federal Civil Service Commissioners were also sworn in. They are Mr. Jonah Madugo, who will represent Benue, Plateau and Nasarawa states while Abimbola Salu-Hundeyi will represent National Population Commission.
There was a minor cabinet reshuffle. Mr. Alhassan Khaliru is now the Minister of Health while Fidelis Nwankwo, is now the new Minister of State for Health.
Speaking at the occasion, President Goodluck Jonathan said they were coming into the cabinet at injury time and that Nigerians will be watching their moves.
“For the ministers this is an injury time. It is like bringing a player when you have just five minutes to go in a football match. So everyone wants to know what that player will do, the magic the player will perform within that short period. The player himself will be struggling to at least kick the ball before the end of the game”, he said.
