Nine Year Old Botoku Shocks WAEC with Credits

Many are still yet to get to terms with how nine year old Miss Anjolaoluwa Botoku of Edidot Primary School, Ajah obtained credits in the two subjects she sat for in the November/December West Africa Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

Botoku had entered for seven subjects but only sat for French and English in which she scored C5 and C6 respectively.

Feeling elated about the honour done to the school, the proprietor Reverend Edith Okubanjo in an interactive session with newsmen announced a scholarship award for the genius pupil to last till she finishes her secondary education.

Reverend Okubanjo advised parents to always create time for their children and not only run after money, noting that the formal education of every child cannot be left in the hands of the school alone.

Father of Anjolaoluwa, Mr. Olufemi Botoku who is a lawyer and former French teacher expressed happiness that his daughter made such an achievement thereby bringing honour to the family.

Also speaking with newsmen, Anjolaoluwa Botoku who is currently in Primary Five, said she decided to write the exam following a challenge with her siblings who wrote the same examination.

Miss Botoku canvassed for a review of the age of eligible candidates for the WASSCE to be less than the thirteen years age limit.
