Either way, I will accept result, I am a democrat – Atiku

I will congratulate myself – Buhari

LAGOS, Nigeria – Leading presidential candidates for the election, President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressive Congress(APC) and that of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar today cast their votes in the Presidential and National Assembly elections holding today.

Buhari voted in his ward in Daura, Katsina State, while Abubakar voted in his ward in Adamawa State.

The voting process for both candidates went on very smooth, with alot of voter turn-out. Speaking after casting his vote, President Buhari expressed optimism about the process. According to him, Nigerians are voting peacefully, but when asked if he will congratulate the winner, if he loses, he said: “I will congratulate myself”, he said, anticipating that he will win.

Atiku cast his vote in a very crowded ward, with INEC officials shouting at the top of their voice for people including journalists to give Atiku space to allow him exercise his franchise. Eventually, he voted, and managed to meander his way to his car.

But speaking to journalists, he said he is impressed by the large voter turn out. But when asked if he will congratulate the winner if he loses, he said: “I am a democrat”, adding that either way he will congratulate whoever emerges winner of the day.
