LAGOS, Nigeria – My Father’s Book, the work of Ceasar Kagho,  then a showbiz writer with the Nigerian Observer in the now defunct Bendel State has metamorphosed  from just a minute book on the shelve into a documentary film, courtesy of the Kagho siblings,  Idhebor and Akpor Kagho.

Featuring the legendary Disc Jockey, Charlie Bee,  “My Father’s Book  is a battle cry, a reminder of the finest hour in the fleeting moment of life. Charlie Bee is reenacted in his elements at his residence night club, New Langer in 1979 played by Brutus Richards.

“Brutus is an evolving creative actor with a distinct expression in the art form of film and drama”. His  growth has been consistent from his first feature film in the globally acclaimed cult classic, JUJU, to his recent projects, Rattle Snake and the Netflix original series King of Boys 2 – The Return of the  King.

Speaking on the project, Idhebor said the motivation has been his dad, who towed the path of showbiz in his early years of journalism.

On what the project hopes to achieve, Akpor said,” we live in a time where the coolest things are quickly forgotten, overtaken immediately by something cooler… The documentary featured a lot of people who at the time thought they would live forever and stay forever young, relevant.  Look at it , just a few decades ago and it sounds like ancient history…This is why we made this documentary”.

Katja Ikongio joined the Kagho siblings in putting together this 32 minutes musical documentary film.

Idhebor and Akpor were educated  at the Nigerian Film Institute, Jos with several international certificates, while Katja  Ikongio holds a Master of Arts degree in African Studies from Humboldt University Berlin. She is a cultural producer and storyteller who has been living in Lagos since 2017.
