IKEJA, Lagos, Nigeria – Azeez Fashola, better known as Naira Marley, alleged to be the principal suspect in the mysterious death of fast rising musician, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Promise Aloba alias Mohbad has been arrested.
He was arrested late this evening by the Nigerian Police Force, NPF. Police Public Relations Officer for the Lagos Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin made the announcement via his twitter handle.
“Azeez Fathola aka Naira Marley has been taken into custody for interrogation and other investigation activities”, he announced on Tuesday evening.
Naira Marley and his manager, Sam Larry have been on the run since the demise of Mohbad, following various videos which surfaced, one of them with the musician at Ilado surrounded by miscreants warning that if anything should happen to him, Naira Marley and his music promoter, Sam Larry be held responsible.
Prior to the video, the Mohbad had in a petition to the Force Criminal Investigative Department, FCID, complained that his life was in jeopardy but the police treated the issue with levity when Sam Larry through his lawyer wrote a counter petition forcing the police to invite Mohbad, who didn’t show up eventually until he died.
Naira Marley and Sam Larry has previously denied involvement in the murder of Mohbad.
