August 10, 2014 – Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musliu Obanikoro has said that the August 9 governorship election in Osun would have been marred by violence but for the heavy presence of the military in Osun State.

Obanikoro made the clarification amidst agitation from the All Progressive Congress(APC) that the election was militarized and members of the opposition harassed and intimidated.

The minister who reacted on his tweeter page said the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) Dr. Iyiola Omisore deserves commendation for fighting a good fight.

He added that the victory of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola is a confirmation of the goodwill he enjoys among the people of Osun State,
