Migrants facing ‘National Security’ risk to be booted to third countries

    By SCM REPORTER

ITALIAN firebrand, Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni has declared war on illegal migration with a series of “iron-fisted” measures designed to reclaim Italy’s borders.

In a defiant message to those crossing the Mediterranean, the Prime Minister warned that the days of “blind-eye” arrivals are over, telling migrants: “If you want to live in Italy, RESPECT THE LAW.”

Under the explosive new security decree, the Italian government has cleared the way for a “naval blockade” to temporarily ban migrant boats from entering territorial waters during periods of “exceptional pressure.”

The crackdown doesn’t stop at the shoreline. Meloni’s cabinet has expanded the list of offenses that trigger automatic expulsion.

Foreigners who threaten national security or public order will no longer just be asked to leave—they will be forcibly redirected to third countries for processing.

The new “zero tolerance” list of crimes for deportation now includes:
    Assaulting police officers
    Domestic violence
    Human trafficking or “slavery” offenses
Lying about age to gain entry as a “minor”

”Legality is our top priority,” a source close to the Italian government said. “We will not allow Italy to become Europe’s refugee camp. If you break the rules, you lose the privilege of staying.”

The move follows Meloni’s controversial “Albania Model,” where asylum seekers are shipped offshore to the Balkans while their applications are vetted. Despite legal challenges from activist judges, Meloni has doubled down, insisting that the safety of Italian citizens comes first.

The decree also gives police more powers to use X-rays and body measurements to verify the ages of migrants who claim to be children—a move aimed at stopping adult men from gaming the system to get special protection.

Since taking power in 2022, Giorgia Meloni has transformed Italy’s migration policy from “open doors” to “bolted borders.”

Before her election, Meloni campaigned on a promise of a naval blockade. While critics called it “impossible,” this latest legislation brings that promise closer to reality.

In 2024, arrivals in Italy plummeted by over 60% following her deals with North African nations like Tunisia and Libya to stop boats before they even set sail.

By targeting “national security threats” for third-country deportation, Italy is leading a right-wing shift across Europe, with nations like Austria and Denmark now looking to copy the Meloni playbook.
