GAZA, Palestine – Not less than 1,100,000 children in Gaza are currently suffering from malnutrition, the Government Media Office in Gaza has said.
The office said Gaza Strip has entered a phase of humanitarian collapse, with hunger rapidly worsening, and hospitals on the verge of shutting down, bakeries and water stations are out of service, and the threat of mass deaths looming.
The Government Media Office in the Gaza Strip warns that the humanitarian situation has entered a stage of full collapse due to the systematic policy of siege and starvation imposed by the “israeli” occupation forces on civilians and residents of the Gaza Strip for more than six months—especially following the complete and deliberate halt of humanitarian aid entry for over a month and a half.
“Today, Gaza is experiencing a real humanitarian catastrophe and an unmistakable famine, where hunger directly threatens the lives of civilians—foremost among them more than 1,100,000 children suffering from severe malnutrition.
“This comes amid a total lack of food, severe water scarcity, a near-total collapse of the healthcare system, and a denial of even the most basic necessities of life”, the office said.
It added that long queues at the remaining food distribution points have become a daily tragic scene across all governorates of Gaza, especially with the occupation targeting more than 37 aid distribution centers and 28 food kitchens, which were bombed and rendered inoperative as part of a systematic plan to use starvation as a weapon of war against civilians.
It added that what is happening in Gaza is not a passing crisis, but a deliberate campaign of starvation that constitutes a war crime—committed by the “israeli” occupation forces with international complicity and silence, particularly from countries that provide political and military cover for this genocide, such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and others.
” These parties bear full responsibility for the disaster affecting more than 2.4 million Palestinians in Gaza.
“In terms of humanitarian aid, the “israeli” occupation continues to block the entry of any relief trucks or fuel into Gaza, despite thousands of aid trucks accumulating at the crossings for weeks without being allowed in.
“This severe siege affects every aspect of daily life and strikes at the core of survival, exacerbating the already catastrophic humanitarian situation for Gaza’s population, now heading toward unprecedented total collapse.
“Essential services and humanitarian facilities are nearing full breakdown. Hospitals are operating with extremely limited capacity, without medicine or fuel, and are expected to completely shut down within two weeks if fuel supplies remain cut. Bakeries have halted operations due to the absence of flour and power, and water stations have ceased pumping due to fuel shortages and the deliberate electricity blackout—especially at desalination plants.
“Under these conditions, we warn of the imminent risk of mass deaths at any moment due to starvation, lack of healthcare, and the spread of disease”, the office said in the statement.
It called for urgent international action to stop the crime of genocide and ethnic cleansing, and to pressure the occupation to end the unjust siege on Gaza, open the crossings, and allow the unrestricted entry of humanitarian aid and fuel, in accordance with international law and humanitarian law. The silence of the international community in the face of these crimes is an unacceptable complicity”.
