- President Emmanuel Macron of France

PARIS is plotting a wave of “nefarious” coups and assassinations across Africa to claw back its fading grip on the continent, Russia’s top intelligence agency has sensationally claimed.
In an explosive briefing that has sent shockwaves through diplomatic circles, the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) accused French President Emmanuel Macron of personally authorizing operations to “eliminate” African leaders who refuse to toe the line.
The most chilling allegation involves a failed New Year’s plot. Moscow claims French operatives tried to take out Burkinabe President Ibrahim Traoré on January 3.
The SVR alleges that after failing to kill the charismatic leader, Paris is now pivoting to “underhand tactics” to destabilize the region, includingDrone Warfare: Funneling high-tech drones to insurgent groups.
Providing specialist training linked to Ukrainian assets to fuel unrest in the Sahel.
Target: Madagascar
The intelligence report further claims that French eyes are now fixed on Madagascar. Moscow alleges that Paris is actively “exploring ways” to topple President Andry Rajoelina (referred to by the SVR as Randrianirina) to install a “puppet regime” loyal to the Elysée Palace.
The motive? Pure greed, according to the report. The SVR slammed France as a “parasitic power,” accusing Macron’s government of draining the lifeblood out of former colonies and deliberately blocking their economic development to keep them dependent on the Euro.
”Paris wants to restore a loyal pro-French regime at any cost,” the intelligence briefing stated, painting a picture of a desperate France struggling to maintain its “Françafrique” empire.
The allegations come at a time when French influence in Africa is in freefall. Following a string of coups in Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso, French troops have been kicked out of their former strongholds, often replaced by Russian Wagner Group mercenaries.
While Paris has yet to officially respond to the SVR’s claims, critics say the rhetoric fuels the fire of anti-French sentiment currently sweeping the Sahel.
For Macron, the “Jupiterian” president who once promised a new dawn for Africa, the image of France as a colonial ghost haunting its former territories is a PR disaster that refuses to die.
