    LASU MOURNS DEATH OF FIRST CLASS SCHOLAR, PROF. ABUBAKAH MOMOH

    OJO, Lagos, Nigeria – The Management of Lagos State University hereby confirms the death of Prof. Abubakah Momoh, the Director General of the Electoral Institute of the Independent National Electoral Committee (INEC).




    In a statement, Acting Head, Centre for Information Press and Public Relations, Lagos State University, Ademola Adekoya said based on information made available by his wife, Mrs Tawakalitu Momoh, Prof. Momoh died in the early hours of today Monday 29th May, 2017, precisely at 9am, at his official quarters in Abuja.

    “She further informed that the remains oh her late husband will be buried today in Auchi, Edo State according to Islamic rites”, he said.

    Until his appointment as the Director-General of the Electoral Institute, Professor Momoh was the Dean of Faculty of Social Sciences, Lagos State University, Ojo.

    In his reaction, Vice Chancellor of. LASI said the death of Prof. Momoh was a huge loss and that the whole University Community is deeply saddened by the demise of the renowned Professor of Political Science and a fine gentle man.

    “The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olanrewaju Adigun Fagbohun on behalf of the Council, Senate, University Management and the entire students commiserates with the entire family of Prof. Abubakar Momoh and prays to God to grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss and for his soul to rest in perfect peace”, he said.
