Lagos State Government yesterday commenced enlightenment campaign to educate the residents on the importance of using electronic ticketing.Speaking with Newsmen in Lagos, the Managing Director of e-Purse Systems, Mr. Dayo Aderugbo said there is need to enlighten Lagosians on the importance of the Lagos Connect Card which was launched recently by the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola in the state.

He said the campaign is to intimate commuters that with their personalised cards, they could travel cashless on the various bus routes.
“Apart from being a cheaper way to travel because commuters will be able to pay as low as N20 for some routes, the card will also reduce loss of manpower currently being suffered by commuters due to double queues at the various bus stops”.

Aderugbo said  since the launch efforts have been made by e-Purse official to visit all BRT and BFS stations in Lagos including Mile12, Ketu, Ojota, Maryland, Idiroko, anthony, Obanikoro, Palmgrove, Fadeyi, Stadium, Costain, Leventis, CMS, TBS, Ikeja along, Ikeja Under bridge, Cement, Iyana Ipaja, Egbeda, Ikotun, Igando to name a few.

Aderugbo explained the reason for this extensive campaign was the fact that the transport industry in country is being overhauled, saying a lot of the day to day operations are becoming automated.

“This is as a result of the need to provide an efficient system for the citizens of the various states and country as a whole, whilst ensuring that the revenue accruable to ensure the efficiency of the system is also secured,” he added.

He said the organisation has developed the solutions to effectively tackle the problem with the recent introduction of the BRT and BFS Lagos connect cards which would cater to commuters of the BRT and BFS buses in Lagos State. “This introduction came after more than a year of testing the system at various levels to make sure the system will make public transportation a delight to the commuter,” he said.
