IKEJA, Nigeria – Lagos State Ministry of Justice has received the commendation of the Solicitor General, Ministry of Justice Kaduna State, Mr Chris Adapar Umar for her trail blazing and pioneering efforts towards ensuring an effective and efficient administration of Justice.

The Solicitor General, made this known at a reception held on 24th March 2021 at the Secretariat, Alausa to welcome the delegation from Kaduna State Ministry of Justice, who are on a three day visit to under study the Working patterns of the State Ministry of the Justice.

Speaking during the short welcome reception, the State Solicitor General/ Permanent Secretary, Mrs Titilayo Shitta-bey who received the delegation  noted that the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Lagos State, Mr. Moyosore Onigbanjo SAN, on being sworn in had expressed his firm desire to ensure the decongestion and removal of as many clogs in the wheel of administration of justice right from the police stations to th correctional services in Lagos State.

Explaining further she said, in the course of pursuing this lofty goal, on the 8th of January, 2020, an advisory committee was inaugurated by the Attorney General, which included  illustrious and outstanding lawyers from the Ministry of Justice and the private bar to review  activities of Police lay Prosecutors.

According to her, a major recommendation of the committee which was approved by the Attorney General led to the establishment of the District Prosecutor’s Office which is now a sub-unit of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions.

Ms. Titilayo Shitta-bey made reference to the enactment of the “Pilot Scheme” of the District Prosecutors’ Office which took off in year 2020 in three (3) magisterial districts. The positive observation and successful work done by the unit, led to the creation of District Prosecutors’ Offices in all Magisterial Districts in Lagos State.

The leader of the delegation  from Kaduna State Ministry of Justice,  Mr. Chris Adapar Umar also stated that their visit  would certainly make his team do better through peer reviews by studying how Lagos State runs its administration of Justice  and how it has adopted strategies and countered the challenges that comes with the system.

In attendance was the Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice, Lagos State; Ms. Titilayo Shitta-bey, Director of Public Prosecutions; Mrs Adeyemi, The Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice, Kaduna State; Mr. Chris Adapar Umar, Director of Public Prosecutions, Kaduna State; Mr. Dari Bauero, Officer in Charge O/C Legal, Kaduna State; Mr. Martins Danjuma and management of the State Ministry of Justice.
