October 15, 2015 – The Lagos State House of Assembly has confirmed 37 nominees forwarded to it by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode for confirmation as commissioners and special advisers.
They were all confirmed during the plenary on Thursday after presentation of the report of the 16-man committee set up by the House to screen the nominees.
While presenting the report, Mr. Wasiu Sanni Eshinlokun said the nominees were invited by the committee and that they all submitted copies of their CVs, certificates, tax clearance and evidence of registration with Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA), which according to the chairman were thoroughly verified by the committee.
The Ad-Hoc committee sat for one week starting from Monday 5th to Friday 9th October at the Lateef Jakande Auditorium within the premises of the Assembly. The only female nominee who could not appear on Tuesday, Yetunde Onabule however came up on Thursday and was eventually screened.
Speaker of the House, Hon. Mudashiru Obasa thereafter directed Clerk of the House, Segun Abiru to send a letter to the Governor informing him that his nominees have been cleared.
It would be recalled that the House had invited the nominees to appear before it on Tuesday 13, October, where they were requested to speak about their background and their experiences with the committee.
In the list are former Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr. Gbolahan Lawal, ex-commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris, ex-Special Adviser, Central Business District, Folarin Coker, ex- Special Adviser Commerce and Industry, Seye Oladejo, ex-Special Adviser Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ganiyu Johnson and ex-Special Adviser Rural Development, Babatunde Hunpe.
Others include Yetunde Onabole, Fela Bank-Olemoh, Akinyemi Ashade, a partner in KPMG, former Managing Director, National Mirror, Steve Ayorinde, Alhaja Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf, a pharmacist, Kehinde Joseph and Prof. Ademola Abass, a professor of Law.
Other names include Dr. Akintola Benson, former Special Adviser Political and Legislative Powers Bureau, Dr. Abdul-Hakeem Abdul-Lateef, Dr. Mohammed Akinkunmi, former member, House of Representatives, Dr. Babatunde Adejare, Dr. Femi Onanuga, CEO of LAMATA, Dr. Dayo Mobereola, Engr. Ade Akinsanya, Arch. Wasiu Anifowoshe, former members of the House of Assembly, Lola Akande Adebimpe Akinsola and Alhaji Musiliu Folami.
Also in the list are Agboola Dabiri, Ganiu Sanni, Anofi Elegushi, Rotimi Ogunleye,, Femi Odubiyi, , Adeniji Kazeem, Adeyemi Labinjo, Toyin Suarau, Babatunde Durosinmi-Etti, Deji Tinubu, Mudirat Giwanson and former Chairman Ejigbo LCDA, Kehinde Bamigbetan and Wale Oluwo.
