Lagos State Government has commended the Nigerian Police high command for sacking Sergent Chris Omeleze for demanding bribe from a contravened motorist.

The Commissioner for Transportation, Comrade Kayode Opeifa said that by this act, the police authorities especially the Lagos State Command under the Commissioner of Police, Umar Manko have demonstrated their commitment to upholding the integrity of the force and showed that any act of indiscipline would not be condoned.

Opeifa also said that this action should embolden members of the public to lodge complaints against any uniformed personnel knowing that it would receive the necessary attention and action required.

He therefore advised uniformed personnel especially those established by the Lagos State Government to carry out their duties with utmost diligence, integrity and compassion as any act of indiscipline especially those bordering on bribery and unacceptable conducts would be visited with the right sanction and prosecution where necessary.
