ILORIN, NIGERIA — Kwara United put on a dazzling exhibition of attacking football at the State Stadium in Ilorin, dominating Katsina United 3-0 in a Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) clash.
Driven by standout performances from their star men, the Harmony Boys controlled the match from start to finish, earning three points with three goals and a clean sheet.
The stars of the show wasted no time imposing their authority on the contest. Kwara United dominated possession, keeping over sixty percent of the ball and suffocating the visitors in their own half.
The opening breakthrough arrived in the thirty-fifth minute following sustained pressure. Winger Abubakar Ferinyaro, the star performer on the flank, sliced through the Katsina defense with a razor-sharp run before finishing into the bottom corner to make it 1-0.
The momentum stayed firmly with Kwara United heading into the second half. Just eight minutes after the restart, the host side doubled their advantage through an emphatic team move in the fifty-third minute.
Katsina United struggled to register any threat on goal, finishing the match with just two shots on target and failing to breach Kwara’s defensive unit.
Kwara United sealed the dominant victory in the sixty-fourth minute. Star playmaker Ismail Gata capped off a masterclass midfield display by finding space on the edge of the penalty area and curling a effort into the back of the net to make it 3-0.
The statistics reflected Kwara’s utter dominance across the ninety minutes. The home side racked up fourteen total goal attempts with seven on target, while forcing eight corners compared to just two for Katsina United.
Kwara’s defensive discipline was equally impressive, completing the match with a clean sheet, committing fewer than ten fouls, and allowing zero clear-cut scoring chances to the opposition.
With stellar individual displays from Abubakar Ferinyaro and Ismail Gata, Kwara United put on one of the most complete team performances of the NPFL campaign, leaving Katsina United with no answers on a nightmare afternoon in Ilorin.
