ABUJA, Nigeria – Senator representing Kogi West, Senator Dino Melaye has been stretchered into Zanklin Hospital,Abuja, Nigeria, Vanguard Newspaper has reported. The senator according to the newspaper jumped out of police truck that was conveying him and ran into a nearby forest to evade arrest.
Armed policemen, we gathered ran after him and bundled him back into their truck, injuring him in the process. The senator has been in the news since Monday when he was prevented from traveling to Morocco for a conference. He was subsequently put under house arrest.
But this morning, the senator tweeted that he will be making himself available to the police.
“A man without arm, no security yet you mobilise 150 policemen to invite him. And those who committed Treason are free. We shall not be intimidated or cowed. Struggle continue
“I will make myself available to the police today. My resolve to speak the truth and defend the poor masses of NIGERIA is Total. We shall overcome!!! All my policemen have been taken away with their arms. One CP came and took them away. There is also a plan to set me up again. But in God I trust. Truth will always prevail
“We are in a civil society. No warrant and case is in court yet this lawlessness. I’m a responsible NIGERIAN and law abiding. There is a plan to kill me and I know about it. We are not in a banana Republic. I can not be silenced”, he said earlier today.
