ABUJA, Nigeria – Senate President and Chairman of the National Assembly, Chief Godswill Obot Akpabio, GCON, has charged supporters of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to knock on every door, respectfully, to canvass for the votes necessary to re-elect Tinubu for a second term as President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Towing the same line of advice in his speech, the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, urged supporters and canvassers to by-pass no door as they canvass for votes to ensure a seamless re-election of the president and party leader, Tinubu.
Both men spoke in Abuja at the formal inauguration of the national executives of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement held at the Events Centre of the Transcorp Hilton in Maitama, where they urged members of the group to take the party’s message of democracy directly to all the 36 states, 774 local government areas, 8, 809 wards as well as 176, 846 polling units in the federation.
At the inauguration ceremony, Akpabio, who represented President Tinubu, described him as a courageous man who was prepared for the job, discovered his mission early and vowed never to betray that mission: a better Nigeria.
He explained that nations do not just become great but by taking difficult decisions once they decide what they wanted and commended the president for taking difficult political, economic and social decisions that are now turning everything around for Nigeria.
Addressing the movement, Akpabio said, “Knock on every door with respect. When they open, listen before you explain. Convince them with facts.”
In his speech, Yilwatda charged the inaugurated leadership with house-to-house grassroots engagement and conviction of voters, a critical part of an electoral success, different social media and television noise.
“Every door you knock on will become a vote; every heart you win will become a voice that will echo the Renewed Hope Agenda of our party.
“Your assignment is simple: knock on every door, house to house. Elections are not won on television or on social media. They are won in marketplaces and in villages. 2027 is a choice between moving forward and moving backward, a choice between reform and retreat,” Yilwatda stated.
In his keynote lecture, Professor Bashir Makarfi of the Bayero University in Kano State commended the Tinubu administration for its bold decisions and democratic equality before drawing a parallel line between the decisions, policies and evolution of Nigeria under the government and those of Asian Tigers as well as European developed economies.
The scholar highlighted increment in oil production, NELFUND Scheme, national road infrastructure, reduction of inherited debt, more allocation to states, state policing among many other key achievements for door-to-door campaign for votes.
“There is no part of Nigeria today that is not undergoing infrastructural development. What remains is the potency to mobilise Nigerians. Elections are won at polls and Tinubu is campaigning with achievements.”
In his remark at the occasion, the Minister of State for Petroleum, Mr. Heineken Lokpobiri, PhD., highlighted the huge gains the oil and gas sector has seen under Tinubu’s leadership, resulting to increased revenues from the recent attainment of 1.8 million barrels per day through collaborative security, while highlighting the end of fuel scarcity.
In a speech on his behalf, the founder and grand patron of PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, a businessman, founder and chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL), a leading Nigerian indigenous security firm protecting and securing Nigeria’s oil and gas facilities, High Chief Government Oweizide Tompolo thanked Tinubu for his genuine love for Niger Delta and his desire to ensure infrastructural development of the region.
“Tinubu has done a lot for the Niger Delta Region. The people are very happy with him. They are ready to reward his genuine and transparent love with massive votes in 2027. This movement as a token of our appreciation will ensure he gets votes from every home and every house in Nigeria,” Tompolo declared.
At the forefront of Tompolo’s inner circle that unveiled the inaugurated leadership of PBAT Door-to-Door Movement is the Administrator of Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), High Chief Dennis Brutu Otuaro, PhD., whose physical presence before, during and after the event ensured everything went smoothly and happily for the special guests and thousands of members who defied the downpour and thunderstorms to attend.
“President Tinubu has done very well for the entire Nigeria. Particularly, there is no request the Niger Delta have made to him that he refused to grant. We are very grateful to him. So, come 2027, we will make sure he gets 100 percent of votes across the country with the Door-to-Door Movement,” Dr. Otuaro said.
Others at the forefront include: the Managing Director of Tantita, High Chief (Engr.) Keston Ebimobowei Pondi as well as businessman and founder of Maton Engineering Nigeria Limited, Mr. Matthew Tonlagha.
