ONITSHA, Anambra, Nigeria – Unknown gunmen have  abducted  an Anambra businessman based in Cameroon  along Amawbia -Enugwu-Agidi Igbariam road, Anambra East Local Government Area of  Anambra state. The man who was on Christmas holiday  was kidnapped in  early of Monday in the state.

According to a report, the  ever busy road leading to Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) has turned a shadow of itself as motorists have deserted the road following the ugly incident.

Our reporter  gathered  that few days ago, a middle-aged man, his wife and child  were kidnapped along the same road by armed gang. Though, the wife and their little girl were later released  when  the baby became restless, the husband was held by the abductors for a ransom.

Also a lecturer with COUU was late 2020 abducted on the same spot along the Amawbia-Enugwu-Agidi -Igbariam road in the Njikoka local council area.

The  businessman, identified as Mr. Clement Uzoghelu, a native of Nawgu community in Dunukofia local council area was kidnapped while  returning from a private visit. According to a resident of the community the man   was abducted at the swampy bad portion of the road, the very spot where the family of three were kidnapped on December 23, 2020.

He said   the road has regrettably turned to death trap following repeated abductions.

“A Reverend Father had narrowly escaped when he sensed danger on the same road,” he said. When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Mohammed Haruna said he was yet to get the report.
