LAGOS, Nigeria – National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dr. Iyorcha Ayu has said that he did not at anytime pocket N1 billion from anybody as the public is being made to believe.

Recall that the River State Governor, Mr. Nyesom Wike few weeks ago said in his media chat that the PDP chairman collected N1 billion from a Presidential aspirant in Lagos.

Ayu who responded on Twitter said he decided not reply when Wike made the allegation to avoid altercation within the party.

“When the first allegation was made i.e. the N1billion – I decided not to respond because we don’t want to cause altercations in the party. However, I want to make it clear that at no time did I, as the National Chairman of @OfficialPDPNig collect any N1billion from anybody”, he said.

On the latest allegation of collecting money for the PDP secretariat, Ayu who did not mention the name of the governor in question said even before commission, the National Working Committee of the party said before commissioning, that the governor in question should come forward and inspect what has been done with the money donated.

“And the NWC decided that even before commissioning, we should invite the Governor in question to come and inspect what we have done with his money. I am happy to state that the National Secretary of the party has since written a letter to that Governor.

“So, it is not true. Neither I nor the NWC ever took any party money to carry out the renovation. In fact, we have not even exhausted that N100m which was donated by one of the governors”, he said.
