WASHINGTON – Israeli Minister of Public Security  Omer Bar Lev was in the United States  on Thursday, during which he had a meeting with Deputy Secretary of State, Wendy Sherman.

Their discussion centred on assassination of Aljazeera journalist, Shireen Abu Akleh, who was killed by bullet fired by an Israeli soldier in the Jenin Refugee Camp, while she was covering a raid by Israeli forces in the West Bank.

Speaking on the visit, Spokesperson, Ned Price said the Deputy Secretary  raised the tragic death of Palestinian-American reporter Shireen Abu Akleh and the need for accountability.

The meeting focused on U.S-Israel relationship.

“The Deputy Secretary conveyed condolences for the terrorist attacks that claimed the lives of Israelis earlier this year and underscored the United States’ unwavering commitment to Israel’s security.

They also discussed efforts to ensure all Palestinians and Israelis live safely and securely with equal measures of freedom, dignity, and prosperity.
