IRANIAN-backed forces have issued a chilling “kill zone” warning to Western academics, declaring all American universities in the Middle East “legitimate targets” for incoming strikes.
In a terrifying escalation of regional hostilities, a statement released today warns students, professors, and staff to stay at least one kilometer away from US-affiliated campuses or risk being caught in the crossfire.
The threat comes after claims that “Zionist American invading forces” bombed the Tehran University of Science and Technology. Hardliners in Tehran now say they are hunting for “eye-for-an-eye” justice, vowing to destroy at least two American institutions in the region.
The Monday Deadline
The militants have issued a frantic ultimatum to the White House. They demand an official condemnation of the Tehran bombings by 12:00 PM on Monday, March 30.
If Washington fails to bow to the demands, the group warns that the “threat remains valid and will be carried out,” potentially putting thousands of international students and faculty members in the line of fire.
’No One is Safe’
The chilling directive specifically targets American universities across West Asia—areas including Qatar, Lebanon, and the UAE, where the US maintains a significant academic footprint.
”The reckless rulers of the White House should know that from now on, all universities of the occupying regime… are legitimate targets,” the statement read.
Security experts warn that the 1km “buffer zone” advice suggests a threat of high-explosive missile or drone strikes intended to cause maximum structural damage.
BACKGROUND: A Region on the Brink
The current crisis marks a dangerous shift in rhetoric, moving from military-on-military conflict to the targeting of educational “soft targets.”
The Catalyst: Tensions have reached boiling point following reports of strikes on Iranian research centers. Tehran views these institutions not just as schools, but as symbols of national pride and technological advancement.
The Strategy: By targeting universities, proxy groups aim to pressure the US government through civilian fear and international outcry, rather than direct conventional warfare.
The Global Impact: US-affiliated universities in the Middle East, such as the American University of Beirut (AUB) or Texas A&M at Qatar, serve thousands of students from around the world, including British nationals studying abroad.
The Foreign Office has previously warned against all but essential travel to the region, but this specific targeting of campuses represents a “new and unpredictable” level of danger for Westerners living in the Middle East.
