LAGOS, Nigeria – Human Rights lawyer, Mr. Inibehe Effiong has uncovered the identify of the Nigerian Correctional Service officer in Uyo that tortured him and threatened to finish him.
Inibehe who recently concluded serving his one month jail for daring to challenge a judge in court revealed the identify of the NCS officer as Enobong Phillip Eyoren, also known as Gideon Eyoren and goes by the Facebook name Kasiano Kasiano.
According to him, Enobong Phillip Eyoren is an Assistant Superindent in the NCS and that he did not offend him to warrant the threat to finish him.
“Enobong Philip Eyoren: the NCS officer who tortured me and his threat to “finish me”, he said.
Inibehe Effiong was convicted by Justice Ekaete Obot for contempt over alleged unruly behavour without any trial.
Effiong, was at Obot’s court to defend his client in a defamation case in which the Akwa Ibom Governor, Udom Emmanuel, is the claimant.
The lawyer had objected to the presence of two armed police officers in the courtroom, a development that infuriated the judge, who threw caution to the wind send Inibehe to prison.
