ABUJA, Nigeria – Chairman of  Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Mahmood Yakubu has said that he will invoke section 65 of the Electoral Act to review results of the February 25, Presidential and National Assembly election after the collation exercise.

The INEC chairman spoke following reactions that have trailed results of the election, with former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo calling for caution and rectification of errors in the results.

Obasanjo had advised INEC Chairman to reject results where BVAS were not used and results not uploaded into IREV to save his image.

Yakubu said he will review results that needed to be reviewed based on relevant section of the electoral act.

“We will do whatever we can within the law to resolves issues by invoking our powers under section 65 of the Electoral Act, 2022 to review what is necessary”, he said.

Earlier, Chairman of the Zenith Labour Party, Mr. Dan Iwanyanwu had called on INEC to listen to Nigerians by reviewing the results following issues to calm tension, stressing that Nigeria is bigger than anybody. But that the collation must continue.
