PORT HARCOURT, Nigeria – Former Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi has alleged that Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Mahmood Yakubu is a member of the President-elect’s camp, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s camp.
Amaechi, a chieftain of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC made the revelation while addressing reporters in Rivers State after casting his vote during the governorship and house of representatives election.
He said he and others spoke against the re-appointment of Mahmood Yakubu as INEC chairman but that he was ignored.
“We have spoken about this to all concerned before the election”, he said, adding that it is impossible to expect the INEC chairman to succeed in the circumstance.
He said that the INEC chairman worked under the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike in TetFund, adding that the person who nominated him for the INEC job was a member of the Tinubu camp.
He said that in River State, APC, and all the other parties are contesting against INEC and not the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
