OJODU, Lagos – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 55 new cases of Coronavirus in the country, bringing all time cases to 165,110.

But out of the 165,110 confirmed cases,  155,101 patients have been treated and discharged, while  2,063 others could not make it alive, leaving Nigeria with 7946 active cases of Coronavirus.

Breakdown of the new cases is as follows, Lagos-21, Yobe-19, Ogun-6, Akwa Ibom-3,  Kaduna-2, Plateau-2, FCT-1 and Rivers-1, making a total of 55 new cases of Coronavirus.

“NCDC @NCDC gov 55 new cases of #COVID19Nigeria; Lagos-21, Yobe-19, Ogun-6, Akwa Ibom-3, Kaduna-2, Plateau-2, FCT-1 and Rivers-1 ; 165,110 confirmed 155,101 discharged 2,063 deaths”, the NCDC has announced.

Total number of confirmed cases has crossed the 150 million mark. Specifically, there are now 150, 817, 285 confirmed cases of Coronavirus, 3, 171, 285 lives have been lost to the pandemic, while 87, 837, 433 others have recovered.

There are now 59, 807, 567 active cases of Coronavirus worldwide based on the latest statistics from the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, Johns Hopkins University, Maryland.

According to the centre, the United States remains the most afflicted country globally, reporting 32, 333, 463  confirmed cases while 575,815 patients have been killed by the pandemic(53, 449 new and 791 deaths*), followed by India which has reported 18, 762, 976  all time cases, 208, 330 lives  are no more, while 15, 384, 418 others have survived the pandemic, leaving India with 3, 170, 228 active cases of Coronavirus(386, 452 new and 3, 498 deaths*) and Brazil which has registered 14, 590,678 confirmed cases, 401, 186 deaths and 12, 971, 430  recoveries, leaving Brazil with 1,218, 062 active cases of Coronavirus(69, 389 new and 3,001 deaths*).

France remains the 4th country most hit, reporting  5, 677, 832 all time cases,  104, 675 patients have passed on while 346, 480 others have been treated and discharged, leaving France with 5, 226, 677 active cases of Coronavirus(24, 308 new and 290 deaths*), followed by Turkey with 4, 820, 591 confirmations, 40, 131 patients are no more, while 4, 323, 897 others have been treated and discharged, leaving Turkey with 456, 563 active cases of Coronavirus(31, 891 new and 394 deaths*) and Russia which has documented 4,750,755  all time cases, 108, 290 patients have lost their lives, while 4, 377, 504 others have recovered, leaving Russia with 264, 961 active cases of Coronavirus(8613 new and 388 deaths*).

The United Kingdom has come up as the 7th country most afflicted, reporting 4, 432, 234 confirmations, 127, 774 patients have lost their lives, while 14, 664 others have been treated and discharged, leaving the UK with 4, 289, 796 active cases of Coronavirus(2393 new and 18 deaths*), followed by Italy which has registered 4, 022, 653   all time infections, 120, 807 lives are no more, while 3, 465, 576  others have been treated and discharged, leaving Italy with 436, 270 active cases of Coronavirus(13, 445 new and 263 deaths*) and Spain which has reported 3, 524, 077  all time infections, 78, 216 lives have been killed by the virus, while 150, 376 others are now hale and hearty, leaving Spain with 3, 295, 485 active cases of Coronavirus(9135 new and 136 deaths*).

Germany comes in as the 10th country most hit, now reporting 3, 393,721 confirmed cases, 82, 948 deaths and 3,008,640 recoveries, leaving Germany with 302, 133 active cases of Coronavirus(16, 803 new and 291 deaths*) and South Africa which reported 1, 581, 210  all time infections, 54, 350 deaths and 1, 505, 620  recoveries, leaving South Africa with 21, 240 active cases of Coronavirus(1674 new and 19 deaths*).
