UMUAHIA, Nigeria – Abia state governorship candidate on the platform of All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA for 2023 general election Prof. Gregory Ibe has promised to redesign the state for productivity if elected governor.  Prof. Ibe also stated that he was going leap- jump the state to  greatness again .

Ibe made this promises  early Monday morning while holding a  town hall meeting with Abia indigenes resident in New York, USA, monitored by our reporter via zoom in Nigeria .

According to him, his  government will rejig the civil services structure  to make it  productive and effective to carter for workers’ and pensioners’ needs .

” I am going to pilot Abia State for the benefit of all and make sure we have a new Abia where everybody is protected and provided for to function effectively.

“I will redesign Aba, Umuahia , Ohafia and others for good .The state has remained the same in the last 10 years. All our money will work for us for the development of the system. We will improve on the civil service in the state to encourage honesty and hard work. We will also give the civil servant opportunity to own house before their  retirement” he stated.

He also disclosed that the state is being  held down due to  godfatherism, noting that he cannot allow the cankerworm to continue  in the state again if elected the governor in 2023.

According to him, because of godfatherism the masses are suffering in the hands of few  leaders .

Ibe said that he cannot be stooge to those who see government resources as sources of  living in the state, adding that many never wanted him to be governor because they would  be cut-off from living on public funds.

According to him, he will block all the leakages in the state financies where they steal public funds.  Ibe also stated  that he would  prioritise on the security situation because without security no necessary  development could  take place as investor would be scared away.

According to him, in his 100 days in office,all the hospitals and education institutions in the tate will begin to take new shapes and that without good schools and healthcare delivery the state cannot progress.

The APGA  candidate also disclosed  that there is a new movement in Abia state which everybody is joining  because they want a departure from the past where the state’s  resources are partitioned among the few.

“I don’t think ,there is anybody who wants to go back to Egypt. Every Abian needs the new  movement. Abia needs someone  who will put similes on their faces. Our people are suffering in Abia state and I am going to make sure that their suffering stops and I will  bring life back to them again ” he said.

He also promised  to revive all the dead factories in the state to create  work for the teeming youths,adding that if work is available there will be no insecurity.

” Anything that will improve the capacity of everybody will be  taken serious If elected. I will make sure that all of us will collectively work and make the state better.

“I will surpass Sam Mbakwe in development if I become the governor but his place in the history must be kept. There are lot of things to be done to generate funds in the state. We are going to be accountable to the people not to ourselves” he added.
